A Bundle of Cards - Papertrey Ink + Pinkfresh Studio | DIY Resin Dots Tutorial

Image
Happy Sunday, Friends! I hope you've all enjoyed your weekend immensely!   I have a jam-packed post lined up today, with five colorful cards - some inspired by challenges, others to showcase some new favorite products. It's been so fun playing with these colorful tones, and the pops of black throughout.  And all the yummy texture... :) To start the post off I'm sharing two cards that I'm entering into  Papertrey's Spot Color Words challenge  and  Papertrey's Transformation Tuesday challenge . First up, for Betsy's awesome Make it Monday Spot Color Word challenge , I am sharing this pastel card. I love this super simple and fun technique! I changed mine up a tad by adding some dimension to the letters and to the rest of the card, but I still followed the general idea (of localized color on a word die).  To learn how to do this, check out Betsy's awesome video  here .    To start this card, I stamped Rustic Wreath and Peonies on Parade s...

May All of Your Wishes Come True - Papertrey Ink April Blog Hop Challenge

It's a special day over on the PTI blog , with a brand new challenge, and a gorgeous inspiration photo!  So today I'm sharing a colorful card inspired by the beautiful florals and homey touches. I really wanted to recreate and emulate the beautiful tones in the inspiration image, but also play up the homeyness vibes, too. I decided on a colorful floral bundle tucked inside a mason jar. To start this card, I used PTI's Gran's Garden dies and stamps for all the florals, and stamped them in colors of Pale Peony, Terracotta Tile, Melon Berry, Lovely Lady, Raspberry Fizz, New Leaf, Aqua Mist, Hawaiian Shores and Smokey Shadow . For the jar, I used PTI's Friendship Jar stamp  and die , along with a beautiful Spring Rain  stamped filler. To decorate the jar, I used the stamps and the Jar Topper dies . This set will forever be a favorite :) Before I assembled my jar full of flowers, I added a scalloped Journal Card #2 die cut, stamped with some green dotted details to res...

Hello Sunshine - Faux Embroidery with Embossing Paste

Image
I fell in love with embroidery at a very young age, watching both my mom and grandma stitch beautiful art. It's been such a joy to see embroidery, once again, coming back into the mainstream. Have you noticed it all around lately?  Last year, among the lovely embroidered details we added to our decor, I also found the dreamiest embroidered dress and wore it practically all Summer. I can't wait for the mercury to rise so I can slip into it once again :) Until then, I've been playing with a bit of embroidery in the craft room. I'm not exactly the needle + thread connoisseur like the ladies in my family, but I sure can work embossing paste.  So I've got a cheat embroidery look for you today and it's as simple as can be. ______________________________________________________________________ SUPPLIES a stencil of your choice ( here  is the one above, but  this one  is pretty too molding paste , a variety of  ink refills  or other color mediums to dye your p...

Welcome Little One - Patterned Paper vs. DIY Patterns

Image
Hey everybody :)  For today's card, I wanted to challenge myself to use zero patterned paper while still creating a dynamic card. Not an easy feat since I love my paper a lot. I'm a huge fangirl of pretty paper. So I knew this one would be a tad tougher.   But I also know that the one thing that always stumbles me up when working with patterned paper is color matching. I find it difficult and time consuming at times, especially when I'm working with only a single paper out of a collection. I also try and keep my crafting stash pretty minimal, so I don't always have the perfect match when it comes to embellies or other accents... This results in many-a-stumped-moments....  (crickets) So, I've found a way to remedy this situation, and that is by making my own paper! By selecting a base paper, and a few ink colors, watercolors, or markers, I can make sure that all the itty bitty pieces match perfectly and that the colors are consistent. And I love that I don't have...
