Easter Blessings - Bitty Treats and Cards with Papertrey Ink and WPLUS9

Image
I can't believe it's that time of year again. Our streets are still covered in snow, and the temps this week are freezing! But I am very much looking forward to Easter - it holds such a special place in my heart and I love everything it represents. I also love that everywhere you look, Spring colors pop up right about now, and it's the only time of year, when my favorite pastel palette can be found everywhere...From home decor shoppes, to craft stores. It's a feast for the eyes! This Easter, we are not coloring eggs in the traditional sense of the word, but I couldn't possibly go without coloring something ...So I was inspired by a few decorative pieces I found, to color a variety of small styrofoam eggs...A messy, but fun task! And I love how they turned out...imperfect speckles and all :)  They just happened to make the perfect addition for all the little Easter gift baggies I made.  To make the tag for the baggies, I stared with the Scene It: Basic Backer die , f...

You Are So Lovely - Creating with Layers

Image
Good morning! How are you all doing?  Today's post is all about layers and I am SO excited to be sharing this card with you.  I've been trying to create with fewer layers lately, so it's been super fun to jump back into the way that I used to make all my cards. Layered, intricate, and full of embellishments! If you struggle with layers, or are just interested in trying something new in your crafting, read on below and I'll share some of my tips on how I work with layers.  So here we go! The biggest tip I can share, is to...  1. START WITH THE DETAILS This is how I establish the theme and colors of my cards. I create some small embellishment (such as the layered heart on this card) and then I work around it to slowly build the rest of the layers.  It's a little counter-intuitive, but it works wonders.  For this card, I used PTI's Limitless Layers: Hearts and Heart Prints to cut a variety of sizes, which I then layered together. Because the base of my heart ...

Happy Spring - Papertrey Ink Huggable Die and Holiday Hugs Kit Switch-Up

Image
Hello everyone!  Not that long ago, I picked up a sweet kit from Papertrey Ink, the Make it Market: Holiday Hugs, but much too late to actually use it for winter or holiday cards. So you might ask, what is a girl to do? Re-purpose it, of course :)  Today's trio features a more feminine, Spring-inspired twist on a really fun winter themed kit!  If you look closely, you will see that the base used for this sweet little girl is the Tag Sale: Huggable die from PTI. And all the little pieces are from the Make it Market: Holiday Hugs set. I used the eyes and lips as is, and used Santa's joyful lips, as the cheek color. I decided to die-cut two of Santa's beard pieces, and turn them into her polka-dotted hair! To her hair, I added some floral embellishments, and I also stamped a few hearts along her bodice. Adding in a few floral strips and colorful bows, makes for a very Spring-y look, indeed.  To finish this sweet tag, I added a mini tag cut using PTI's Tremendous Tags d...

Wishing You Sunshine - Papertrey Ink Brushed Birds and an Exciting Announcement!

Image
Good Morning! Not too long form now, we'll be hearing chirping birds, and watching our streets come to life with sprouting leaves. It's my favorite time of year and it can never come too quickly! Today's card is just a little peek into the sunny days to come :) I also have another little peek into what's to come here on the blog, with a very exciting announcement below. For today's card, I used a a few different stamps and stencils to create the background. I started with a sunburst stencil from the Sunshine and Rainbows Make it Market kit , inked up with Lemon Tart and Harvest Gold ink to match the color of the bright yellow cardstock I used for the sentiment.  After inking up the starburst, I stamped two floral clusters, with PTI's Gran's Garden stamps in colors of Pale Peony, Sweet Blush, Aqua Mist, Vintage Jadeite, Green Parakeet, and Tropical Teal.   I also clustered together a few heart cutouts, using Limitless Layers: Heart Stitches die , Cover Plate...
