Heart of Gold - Neat and Tangled: One Stamp, Three Ways

Image
G'mornin!  How are you all doing today?  I'm channeling a bit more sparkle today, with three new cards, that all feature the same stamp. I wanted to do a different take with each card, so I'm sharing all three with you today! First up, I used a dash of cool color with a striped paper for the background. It's still very much winter around here, and these shades add a really frosty and fresh look to the card! Because I wanted to keep the card fresh and simple, I used a plain white star die-cut from PTI's Seeing Stars dies  as a large focal point.  To the star, I added a soft, flowy white flower, and an adorable Tiny Tag from Papertrey Ink. I used the same sentiment die-cut, stamped in two different colors, along with one left au-natural, to layer up. I stamped the sentiment in shades of Lemon Tart and Aqua Mist from Papertrey Ink.  And can I just say - I'm really quite fond of this Hero Arts Thanks Stamp & Cuts set ! At the bottom of the card, I added the fea...

A Friend's Heart - Layering with Patterned Paper

Image
Happy almost-Friday! I hope you've all had a wonderful week. This week, I had the opportunity to catch up with a dear old friend, whom I haven't seen for some time. It's delightful that our visits always feel like no time has passed at all. I think it's one of life's greatest blessings, knowing that despite the distance or time passed, we are never far from a friend's heart.  To start this card, I used a dotted, soft pink paper, layered on some white cardstock, with a wee bit of floral paper at the bottom. Just atop that, I added this darling journalling card, cut from a beautiful older paper, which I just cannot seem to find online (if anyone knows the name, please feel free to add a link in the comments). I wanted to keep this card sweet and simple, so I used only minimal embellishments, and decided to decorate with patterned paper.  My favorite way to play with patterns is to mix and match what I call the 'focal weight' of papers, while keeping things...

Lots of Love - Papertrey Ink Scene It: Celebration

Image
Hello friends! I'm sharing my last post of the week today with a happy, love-filled  birthday card! I love this color combination and all the soft layers, especially when they're accented by itty bitty sweet little hearts and a bow or two.  To start this card, I layered some older My Mind's Eye diamond + heart paper, along with some plaid paper from Girl's Paperie over my favorite Rustic White cardstock .  I created a little bow using the We R Memory Keepers Template Studio Bow template. I love using this little tool to create a pile of bows, which I can easily add to gifts and cards when I'm in a pinch!  Just below the bow, I layered a few hearts, cut using Papertrey Ink's Limitless Layers: Heart Stitches and Limitless Layers: Hearts .  At the top of the card, I layered a couple of balloons, stamped and die cut using PTI's Scene It: Celebration stamps  and dies . I used colors of Melon Berry, Sweet Blush, and Pale Peony to stamp a distressed look for...

Hugs From My Kitchen - Gift-able Striped Pouches

Image
Hello friends! Today I'm sharing a little bit of a duo perfect for home-y gift giving.  I am so in love with gifts from the kitchen and I think there is nothing quite like warm, comforting goodies, lovingly shared with someone special.  Whatever the occasion - a shower, a party,  feeling under the weather - it's just the perfect little something-something. That is why you'll find the little packaging corner of my craftroom full with fabrics, wrapping papers, bows and boxes, ready to be filled, decorated and shared!  Every so often, I'll whip up little pouches for an added special touch, so today I am sharing one of these with you! It was inspired by a challenge over on the PTI blog , to create something with stripes. But first, I'll share my coordinating card.   To start, I stamped a beautiful set of peonies from the Peonies on Parade stamp set, onto Rustic Cream cardstock  , embossing them in white. I then used a little bit of watercolor to shade in ...

Filled with Love - Papertrey Ink | Favorite Banana Muffins Recipe

Hi friends! I'm back again today with another little Valentine's post before the day's gone.  These little creations are going to some very special people, so before I send them off, I thought I'd share them with you. First up, I made a few of these little tags to tuck into goodie bags and to add to some yummy baked treats.  I wanted to make something that was simple and easy to duplicate, but still looked elegant and detailed. So I used a simple design, and then embellished each tag with a pile of fancy bows.  I picked up most of the ribbons in the sweetest little shoppe you can imagine, right here in our city.  We are so fortunate to have such a lovely, local place to find beautiful goodies. If you're ever visiting us here in Saskatoon, be sure to check out Soul Paper .  I also created little coordinating gift bag cozies out of this lovely blue embroidered fabric. I am smitten with the delicate pattern :)  And these honestly couldn't have been any simpler...

Be Happy - Papertrey Ink Challenge

Image
Hello and happy Valentine's Day! I hope you have all had a wonderful start to your day and that you've been spoiled or that you've spoiled someone you love ;) I also want to thank everyone who has written a note or a comment in the past couple of days - your words mean so much to me and I am so grateful for each and every one of you and your positive energy. Thank you!! You all make me so very happy :)  And today, I just so happen to have a little card that celebrates love and happiness and it was inspired by Papertrey's Color Challenge . I chose to use Keeway's inspiration colors of: Hibiscus Burst, Lilac Grace, Lovely Lady, Aqua Mist and Simply Chartreuse What a gorgeous bunch! And definitely not colours I would use normally. It feels so great to step outside the comfort zone once in a while and try something new.  To start this card, I used a heart die-cut from PTI's Limitless Layers: Hearts dies, to cut a little peek-a-boo window, which I backed with confe...

Thank You - Papertrey Ink Challenge

Image
Hello again friends, I'm popping back in to share a card for Papertrey's Dies-Only Challenge .  I love the idea here - no stamps, just dies! It's such a fun way to explore the possibilities that lie with all those dies in your stash. And boy, am I glad I pulled these dies out for a spin..I think they'll be staying on my desk for a little while yet :)  To start this card, I used Papertrey Ink's Cover Plate: Hearts die to cut a full background of hearts from a lovely floral patterned paper. Then I added a strip of dotted yellow paper at the bottom of the card to up the cheery-ness factor even more :)  At the top of the card, I used PTI's Limitless Layers: Hearts dies, to cut nesting hearts from two soft shades of felt, including Melon Berry from Papertrey Ink and a lovely color called Peach Blossom from this wonderful Etsy seller . At the bottom, I added another strip of pattern, with a negative die cut of PTI's Wonderful Words: Thank You , and a couple lit...

You Make Life So Sweet - Papertrey Ink Challenge

Image
How are you all doing this fine Tuesday morning? Can you believe it's Valentine's Day tomorrow?! I feel like this year it just crept up so quickly! I created these sweet little tags for Papertrey Ink's Retired Stamp set Challenge ...And of course, they were inspired by the day of love.  Speaking of retired stamp sets, have you taken a peek at all the sets that will no longer be offered past May of this year? It's sad to say goodbye to gorgeous artwork and I cannot even imagine how hard it is for the PTI team to decide each year what sets go and which ones stay....But I am certain that the team has many exciting new releases coming up and I am so anxious to see what the new year brings.  For now and while I wait for all the new goodies, my wish list is already full of many old favorites :)  Today I decided to pay tribute to one of my most favorite sets that I haven't pulled out in a while... Strawberry Patch Sentiments . I am SO glad that I picked this set up and it...
